What is LaLa Con?

LaLaCon 2008 will take place the weekend of June 28th and 29th at the LASFS Clubhouse (11513 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood).

LaLaCon is the Traditional "Spring" Relaxicon and Ultimate Party. It's a relaxing weekend geared toward getting together, watching films, lounging around, reading the paper, taking a nap, and possibly attending some panels.

It can also be considered an open house for the club with the addition of a con suite and several events including a Plutonium Chili Cookoff Luncheon and Intergalactic Ice Cream Social (usually presented by the Time Meddlers of Los Angeles) on Saturday.

There is a huge auction offering a wide assortment of interesting chotchkas / tchotchkes / knicknacks, with the proceeds going towards the upkeep of the LASFS and its activities.

On Sunday evening, there is a large banquet. This event originated as the Fanquet, a "showcase" of LASFS talent, celebrating a member's first professional sale of science fiction or fantasy writing or art. LaLa Con has continued the tradition of honoring honoring local professionals by hosting many Los Angeles area writers and artists, including the panelists you often see at LosCon.

More than anything, LaLaCon is a thank you to LASFS members for making the clubhouse such a fun place throughout the year.
